Korean Delegation reiterates interest in Pedernales airport

The Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC) received the visit of a large delegation from Korea Airports Corporation (KAC), which has expressed its interest in participating in the construction of the new Pedernales International Airport.

The general director (i), Héctor Porcella, led a tour of the facilities of the Punta Caucedo Aeronautical Complex, where the main technical areas of the institution operate, including the Directorate of Air Navigation, the Directorate of Operational Safety Surveillance and the Directorate of Flight Standards.

The Korean corporate group, also made up of representatives of consortiums and companies of the Asian nation, is coordinated by Hong Jum-peo, who declared his country’s interest in deepening the exchange in various areas of economic activity, and especially in civil aviation and tourism in the Dominican Republic.

Porcella was accompanied by the director of Air Navigation, Claudia Roa; the director of Operational Safety Surveillance, Gender Castro and the director of Flight Standards of the IDAC, Pedro Alberto Pina.

He said that the group showed interest in participating in projects aimed at strengthening the development of the Dominican aeronautical sector, and especially in the construction of the projected modern airport terminal in Pedernales, ordered by President Luis Abinader.

“For us this visit is very important because Korean companies have vast experience in the construction and operation of airports, both in Latin America and in other parts of the world,” said Porcella.

The Korean commissioners showed their interest in learning about the operation of the main traffic, air traffic control and operational safety centers, after which, according to Porcella, they were pleasantly impressed by the explanations received during their tour of the aeronautical center located in Punta Caucedo.
