Raquel Peña goes on official mission to India

The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, will travel to India to develop a work agenda during her official visit from Tuesday October 3 to Thursday October 5, which includes meetings with senior officials of the Government of India and representatives of various institutions, as well as meetings with Indian businessmen.

Peña’s visit responds to the invitation made by the Government of India, which marks a turning point in the strengthening of bilateral relations.

The Vice President will meet with the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, and the Vice President, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, in order to address various issues of common interest and continue strengthening the ties of friendship and collaboration between the two countries.

He will also visit the new parliament, where he will hold an audience with the Speaker of the Lower House, Lok Sabha, and with the Indian Foreign Minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, who visited the country in April. During her official visit, she met with senior officials of the Dominican Government and attended the inauguration of the embassy of that nation in the country.

In her agenda, the Vice President plans to meet with businessmen of that country, in addition to giving a lecture at the International Council on Global Affairs (ICWA) and visiting the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi. This visit will further strengthen ties between India and the Dominican Republic to enable the development of new projects and agreements that will benefit both nations.

The Dominican Republic shares with India the democratic institutionalism, adherence to the rule of law, solidarity, respect for the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law. These values constitute the foundations of the bilateral relationship.

The Vice President will also have an agenda in Spain.

Raquel Peña will participate in the celebration of the Hispanic Week, where the Dominican Republic is the guest of honor. In addition, she will hold meetings within the framework of the Investment Promotion Cabinet, as well as with various personalities in that nation.
