“Continuing to develop sustainable tourism is of vital importance for the DR”

Vice President Raquel Peña said that “continuing to develop sustainable tourism is of vital importance for the Dominican Republic because it contributes to the economy while at the same time boosting culture and local production”.

“Promoting sustainable tourism and fostering environmental and ocean conservation are objectives that we support, because through them we can coordinate concrete actions to benefit the country’s communities,” she said.

The Vice President pointed out that protecting natural resources is a shared responsibility and that is why it is essential to work in collaboration with the private sector and civil society.

These statements were made by Vice President Peña during her participation in the launching of the Genera ITM foundation, a private initiative to promote sustainable tourism.
