Cap Cana held its traditional Golf Cup 2023

The Punta Espada Golf Course held the traditional invitational golf tournament for the benefit of the Forjando un Futuro Foundation on October 20 and 21, in which players Luis Matos and Radhamés Peña won the cup for the best overall gross score of the tournament with 61 gross clubs.

The event was part of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Forjando un Futuro Foundation and the 17th anniversary of the Punta Espada golf course, in which 200 national and international players took to the course for a shotgun.

The Cap Cana Golf Cup was dedicated on this occasion to the American culture in appreciation of the owners and commercial allies of the destination city, and was attended by Sonia Guzman, ambassador of the Dominican Republic in the United States.

Also present was the outstanding golfer Vicente Fernandez (El Chino), an Argentinean golfer who has won more than 60 professional tournaments around the world since 1964 in the European Tour, the Order of Merit, the PGA Tour of the United States, now Champions Tour, and the Argentinean Open; as well as Juan Jose Guerra, a Dominican golfer who plays in the Latin American PGA Tour. Both participated in the game with a dynamic for the players to benefit the foundation.

Under the Scramble modality in pairs, the winners of Category A were Enrique Valverde and Marcel Olivares in first place; Fabio Santoni and Javier del Llano in second place; while César Rodríguez and Enríque Rodríguez in third place.

In category B, the first position was won by Casimiro Richiez and Freddy Rodríguez; Henry Morel and Pedro López in second place; and Jorge Reynoso and Ramón Reyes in third place.

Category C was led by Ángel González and Julio Barranco, winners of first place, while Carlos Torramilans and Rea Harkin took second place. Third place went to Miguel Rodriguez and Virgilio de Pool.

In the ladies category on this occasion Michelle Glenn and Suzanne Dunphy came out triumphant with 65 clubs net.

Other special awards were Closets to the pin on hole 7 and hole 16 for Saul Mota and Leo Perez Freixa respectively; Longest Drive on hole 6 for Timm Ford, and on hole 12 for Cindy Biecker.

Accompanied by a very sunny weather, the players enjoyed the excellent conditions of the Punta Espada golf course outdoors, making possible with their participation and donations the social and educational projects carried out by the Fundación Forjando un Futuro.
