Puerto Plata: Solar park will power Carnival port

This Friday, March 8, a new solar park will be inaugurated in the surroundings of the Amber Cove cruise port, located in the bay of Maimon, Puerto Plata.

The event will be headed by the Minister of the Presidency, Joel Santos Echavarría, among other authorities who will accompany the representatives of Carnival Corporation and Carnival Cruise Line.

Parque Solar CarnivalIn that sense, Gabriela Andersson of the area of Media of Carnival Corporation & PLC, informed that at 10:40 in the morning the ribbon cutting ceremony was carried out to inaugurate the mentioned electricity generating park, through the use of solar light.

The work has more than 1,800 solar panels that meet 80% of the energy needs of the Amber Cove port, which marks a step towards sustainability, anticipating a reduction of carbon emissions of one thousand tons per year, equal to the environmental impact of planting 30,000 trees.

Similarly, a guided tour of sustainability was conducted aboard the Carnival Horizon cruise full of tourists will touch the Amber Cove terminal in the early hours of the day and will be in the port until sunset, after guests have enjoyed the many attractions of the destination Puerto Plata.
